Christopher Columbus and Hurricane Vince

Tropical Storm or Hurricane Vince is moving towards Europe and not the United States, which is good for us but bad for them. One IT professional on the Internet said that; ?We Portuguese are in it's direct target line... However... It's odd enough that a storm could gain tropical status and worse even hurricane status in such cold waters such as our own... Who to blame? ?Just simply global warming.? Indeed, the Earth?s climate is changing and the Scientists say; first comes fire, then comes ice. Meaning once it heats up and melts the ice caps, it will cool the ocean and cause use to plunge into an ice age. Not good.

Even a Category One Hurricane can be damaging, Hurricane Stan a Category One has killed over 2,500 people in Guatemala alone. People drown to death in floods. Some villages in the mountains near rivers, completely washed away. In Mexico another 1,000 are thought to be dead.

Tropical Storm or Hurricane Vince is an interesting storm and has some weather forecasters shaking their heads. In fact is the thing could turn around? and go South West? Who knows. If you look at Hurricane Paths sometimes they do a little loop out there, but usually they die afterwards. But if you look at how hot the water is, anything could happen if it turns around, after all a spinning storm turns anyway and there will be some other forces, fronts acting on it out there. You have to hand it to people like Columbus who crossed the ocean this time of year, now that was a ballsy move indeed.

Imagine the Bravery to cross the Atlantic Ocean like he did and sail into the unknown? It goes to show that some risks are worth taking although he is lucky he did not cross in this year? If Hurricane Vince comes toward you in Portugal, it will dissipate due to the colder waters, Tropical Storms need usually 75 plus degrees or they die. Yes the water temperatures are warmer everywhere and it is due to the climate changing temps. The biggest fear many have now is what happens in the next ten years, not necessarily this Hurricane Season.

Christopher Columbus discovered America, because he had the balls to set out into the unknown and with what we know about Hurricanes today, he was a much more mentally tough individual than any of us to do that on a few small wooden ships. Let?s give it up for Christopher Columbus. Think on it.
